Cree-Métis actress Tantoo Cardinal was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The “Killers of the Flower Moon” star has previously received the Order of Canada in 2009, the Canadian Screen Awards’ Earle Grey Award in 2017 and the Governor General’s Artistic Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.
Cardinal is best known for her Indigenous representation onscreen in many well known roles, including 1990’s “Dances With Wolves” and “Legends of the Fall”.
One of her upcoming roles is in Disney’s miniseries, “Echo”.
Cardinal shared a bit about her journey at CWOF with the Canadian Press, saying, “There’s a lot of healing that’s needed to be done in our community, and so that’s always what I’ve tried to work with. I put in my two bits and now the road’s open. I’m in a new age and I’m in a new place in my career.”
The iconic actress also tells Zoomer of the honour, “Although the beam is shining on me, there’s an awful lot of people that have been a part of this path.”
The 25th anniversary CWOF induction ceremony can be seen broadcast on CTV on Dec. 16.
