Ryan Gosling’s Ken won over hearts for being more than “Kenough” in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie. Now he is also a winner in PETA’s 2023 Fashion Awards for his good guy fashion sense.
We can thank costume designer Jacqueline Durran for her bold, but humane fashion choices for Gosling’s Ken.
PETA named Ken’s vegan cowboy boots from Good Guys Don’t Wear Leather and chic vegan fur coat as the Most Iconic Movie Moment of the year, saying the fashion statements “reflect a modern and animal-friendly twist on his iconic character.”
Gosling isn’t the only Canadian to be recognized by the animal rights organization this year. Canada Goose’s Carlyle Quilted Shirt Jacket was named PETA’s choice for Coolest, Warmest Down-Free Fashion in 2023. It is “insulated with innovative TENCEL Lyocell, a biodegradable fibre made from wood pulp.”
Also making PETA’s list of fashion winners this year are Stella McCartney, the GAP, Kylie Jenner for having the Best Fashion Moment in vegan leather brand Khy. Plus, Leonardo DiCaprio-backed vegan shoe brand LØCI was named the Best Celeb-Backed Brand, for using “recycled ocean plastic, natural cork, and bamboo-based insoles for its fashion-forward sneaker styles.”
