Shania Twain helps fight food insecurity and food waste across Canada with Second Harvest donation

Canadian born superstar Shania Twain is using her voice and pocketbook to help put a stop to food waste and hunger across Canada with the help of her foundation.

Second Harvest joined into a partnership with Twain in spring 2025, with the musician saying: “At the Shania Twain Foundation, we believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food.”

“Second Harvest shares that belief and, together, we can make a meaningful impact across the country by ensuring that good surplus food feeds people — not landfills — and helps uplift communities across Canada,” she added.

From Calgary to Toronto to Ottawa to Quebec, the foundation has made a significant donation to make a difference in ending hunger in the country.

“We accepted the final $25,000 donation from Shania Twain Foundation in Toronto and we couldn’t be more grateful,” read an Instagram post by Second Harvest in July. “These funds will help us rescue and redistribute food across our network of more than 600 non-profits in Toronto — food banks, shelters, youth programs, senior centres and so many other vital organizations.”

With over 46 per cent of food wasted in Canada annually and one in four Canadians struggling to find their next meal, the work Second Harvest does is critical.
